Golden State Mining (GSM) has wrapped up aircore drilling at its Four Mile Well gold project in Western Australia.

The phase three program began in February and included 12 drill holes across a deformed greenstone rock package.

GSM said the first-pass drilling was completed for a total advance of 982 metres and assessed anomalous soil geochemistry responses first recorded back in June last year.

While assays for the 242 drill samples submitted for analysis are expected late next month, the company said field drill logging recorded variable weathered granitic intrusive
lithologies beneath extensive types of clay.

Golden State also recorded minor interpreted fine-grained, weakly schistose to massive equigranular mafic-ultramafic greenstone lithologies that it said coincided with gold-in-soil anomalism on the eastern side of the reconnaissance drill line.

This round of drilling was completed on a recently-granted tenement to the north of the company’s existing tenure.

GSM’s initial reconnaissance aircore program, on the southern part of the tenement, recorded low-level gold anomalism, including four metres at 114 parts per billion from 40 metres downhole.

Further testing found a gold anomaly in the northern half of the project that is interpreted to be open to the east.

GSM shares were trading at 3.7 cents at 10:36 am AEDT
