According to reports, Netflix will take measures to crack down on account password sharing. Some users set the main location and then pay a few more dollars to add a member, which is no longer allowed.

Netflix estimates that about 100m users worldwide use shared accounts. "in the past year, we have tried to deal with this problem in different ways in Latin America, and in the coming months we intend to extend this approach to more regions, starting today with Canada, New Zealand, Portugal and Spain," the statement said. "

In many countries, users of Netflix standard and premium packages can add up to two users for a fee, with each additional monthly fee in Canada 7.99 Canadian dollars (about 40 yuan), New Zealand 7.9 New Zealand dollars (about 34 yuan), Portugal 3.99 euros (about 29 yuan) and Spain 5.99 euros (about 44 yuan)

Due to fierce competition, Netflix paid members decreased in the first half of 2022, which is why Netflix will crack down on password sharing and launch advertising packages.

In the latest policy, Netflix will prohibit users who do not live together from sharing accounts, and Netflix will identify and confirm through the "main location" (home Wi-Fi). Users must log in at least once every 31 days with the "primary location", or the device will be blocked. If members are traveling, they need to obtain a temporary CAPTCHA to log in, and the CAPTCHA can only be used continuously for 7 days. Netflix uses information such as IP address, device ID, account activity, etc., to determine whether the logged-in device is associated to the primary location.
