It is reported that the World Auto NewsTeslaThe Model S electric car broke the previous record in a new winter test of a wide range of electric vehicles in Norway.

Norway has been testing the range and efficiency of electric cars on sale in cold weather for years, and winter endurance is a major concern for many potential electric car buyers living in the depths of winter.

This year's test is the largest ever, with 29 different electric vehicles participating in the test. The best performing car this year is Tesla, Inc. 's Model S.

Tesla, Inc. updated the design of the Model S about two years ago, but the high-end all-electric car has not been sold in Europe since the update. This year's new Model S joined the winter test, and its performance can be described as "amazing".

The test was carried out on the loop between Oslo and Hjerkinn, with temperatures ranging from-5 degrees Celsius to-10 degrees Celsius.

The Model S ended up with a range of 530km, a 16.40% reduction in actual mileage compared with the nominal 634km (WLTP), making it the only model in this test with an actual mileage of more than 450km.

The Model S performed much better than most other test models, which reduced their battery life by 20 to 30 per cent due to the cold weather.

In terms of nominal mileage, the Mercedes-Benz EQE300 is Tesla, Inc. 's biggest competitor to Model S, with an actual mileage of 409km, a decrease of 33.39 per cent compared with the nominal 614km, followed by BMW i7 xDrive60, with a nominal mileage of 595km and 424km, a decrease of 28.74 per cent.

It should be noted that in extremely cold temperatures, the range of electric vehicles may be reduced by 40%, even the latest Tesla, Inc. Model S. But this situation is not only applicable to electric cars, any vehicle in extremely cold weather conditions will reduce efficiency.
