Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has released iOS 16.3 beta 1, which includes updates and changes like Fast ID Online, or FIDO two-factor security key support, changes to maps, music and more.
What Happened: YouTuber Aaron Zollo shared a video with his 1.21 million subscribers talking about iOS 16.3 beta 1 and its features.
Zollo said, "The first new feature is a pretty major one Apple announced on their website that will be coming soon with future updates in 2023."
The feature Zollo is talking about is security keys that iPhone owners can use to log into their Apple ID accounts.
Users can opt for a FIDO-security key, which can be found under Settings. The FIDO-certified security key is third-party hardware that verifies users' identities when they sign in. It's the strongest account security and replaces verification codes, Zollo noted.
In terms of bug fixes, Apple hasn't mentioned anything specifically. In terms of performance, battery health and life, Zollo said the real picture would clear after a few days.
Zollo also recommended that users wait to update to iOS 16.3 beta 1 unless they have a spare iPhone to test it on.
Apart from Security Keys for Apple ID, there are few additional features that Apple has announced but not released yet, as well as features in development under the hood that still aren't available, reported 9to5Mac. The highlights include — Apple Card Savings Account, Apple Pay Later, Apple Music Classical, Custom Accessibility Mode and Advanced Data Protection for iCloud beyond the U.S., stated the report.
