In continental Europe, the gainers were led by oil and gas company Eni (E) and brewing company Anheuser-Busch InBev (BUD), which rose 0.9% and 0.7%, respectively. They were followed by financial services company Banco Santander (SAN) and oil and gas company TotalEnergies (TTE), which were both up 0.6%.
The decliners in continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies (DBVT) and biotech firm Zealand Pharma (ZEAL), which fell 12% and 6.7% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma (ASND) and biopharmaceutical company Grifols (GRFS), which lost 5.3% and 4.4% respectively.
In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by mining company BHP Group (BHP) and biotech firm Autolus Therapeutics (AUTL), which rose 2.3% and 4.3% respectively. They were followed by communications company WPP (WPP) and oil and gas company BP (BP), which increased 1.3% and 1.3% respectively.
The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical companies Mereo BioPharma Group (MREO) and Akari Therapeutics (AKTX), which dropped 8.6% and 6.1% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies NuCana (NCNA) and Verona Pharma (VRNA), which fell 8.6% and 5.9% respectively.
