Bullish Insiders Bet US$5.7b on ESR Group Limited (HKG:1821)

Simply Wall St ·  Aug 26, 2022 18:50

Over the last year, a good number of insiders have significantly increased their holdings in ESR Group Limited (HKG:1821). This is encouraging because it indicates that insiders are more optimistic about the company's prospects.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At ESR Group

The Non-Executive Director Hwee Chiang Lim made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for HK$5.7b worth of shares at a price of HK$27.00 each. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at above the current price of HK$20.60. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. In our view, the price an insider pays for shares is very important. It is generally more encouraging if they paid above the current price, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels.
