Buffett said at Berkshire Hathaway's annual shareholders' meeting that the company bought more $Apple(AAPL.US)$ shares in the first quarter, but did not disclose specific figures.
"in fact, we bought more Apple Inc shares in the first quarter, while Apple Inc bought shares of some other shareholders," Buffett said in a discussion about the value of share buybacks. " He did not clarify the exact amount, but Berkshire will provide an update on its stock portfolio through the end of March in mid-May.
As of the end of December, Berkshire held 907.6 million Apple Inc shares, worth about $161 billion. According to its first-quarter earnings report, its stake in Apple Inc was worth $159 billion at the end of March. This is a sign that Berkshire has slightly increased its stake in Apple Inc, which fell 2 per cent in the first quarter.
Apple Inc is by far the most valuable position in Berkshire's stock portfolio, which stood at $391 billion at the end of March. Buffett is Apple Inc's largest individual shareholder, holding more than 5 per cent.
