The Baltic Sea Dry Bulk Price Index fell to its lowest level in more than two years on Thursday as demand for Cape and Panamanian ships slowed. The Baltic Sea Dry Bulk Price Index fell 28 points, or 4.2%, to 640 points, the lowest level since June 4, 2020. The headland freight rate index fell 54 points, or 10.8%, to 445 points, the lowest level in five months. The average daily profit of cape ships fell by $449 to $3,688. The Panamanian shipping price index fell 41 points, or 4%, to 988 points, the lowest level since June 16, 2020. The average daily profit of Panamanian ships fell by $368 to $8894. The ultra-portable bulk carrier freight index rose 4 points to 684 points, or 0.6%.
