The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in the United States hit an all-time high in mid-June, climbing to $5.00 for the first time ever. Prices have fallen slightly in the weeks since then, falling to an average of $4.77 on July 4. Us gasoline prices have soared by more than 50 per cent in the past 12 months. Gasoline prices are currently highest in several states and west coast cities, with average regular gasoline prices reaching $6.04 in California and $6.11 in San Francisco, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
