Graseck opines Citigroup would benefit most from lighter Basel endgame rules, with its stock at 0.5x book value per share, enabling accretive stock buybacks. Bank of America's upgrade is mainly due to valuation, while Goldman Sachs is highly exposed to a capital markets rebound. BNY Mellon's commitment to positive operating leverage contrasts with peer trust banks, and Northern Trust faces near-term headwinds on net interest income, expenses, and a less compelling capital return story.
U.S. banking regulators on Tuesday unveiled plans to force regional banks to issue debt to protect depositors in the event of more failures. All American banks with at least $100 billion in assets would be subject to the new requirement, which makes them hold a layer of long-term debt to absorb losses in the event of a government seizure, according to a joint notice from the Treasury, Office of the Comptroller of the...

Very good info as usual The data dump from chinese economic data releases on Tuesday night in US and Wednesday morning in China. It is some important economic data. It could cause some short-term price swings. If it causes a correction in chinese equities then Im buying that dip for sure. China is a little overbought anyway. If the data comes out dovish then its even better. Its more juice for the china reopening trade.

Goldman brushes aside the growth versus value obsession and says focus on alpha -- companies that can innovate, disrupt, enable and adapt. As well, look for companies that can deliver high and stable margins, instead of those with higher-revenue and record-high valuations that were chased in the last cycle. Was hoping to see the punch line with a couple examples but I guess I’d have to pay Goldman for that info.
