ASMLホールディングは、半導体の製造に使用されるフォトリソグラフィシステムのリーダー企業である。フォトリソグラフィは、フォトマスクから半導体ウェハ上に回路パターンを露光するために光源が使用されるプロセスである。この分野の最新の技術進歩によって、チップメーカーではシリコンの同じ領域上のトランジスタ数を継続的に増やすことが可能となる。従来、リソグラフィは最先端のチップ製造におけるコストの大きな割合を占めていた。ほとんどの部品の製造を外部委託し、組み立て業者のように機能する。主な顧客は、台湾セミコンダクター・マニュファクチャリング・カンパニー（TSMC）、サムスン、インテルである。
