No matter how you look at it, September was the worst month of the year for the S&P 500. But you can still find ways to make money in the next month - in fact, investors often do.
These 12 stocks, such as $Albemarle(ALB.US)$, $Caesars Entertainment Inc(CZR.US)$, and $Caterpillar(CAT.US)$ topped the S&P 500 in September in each of the past five years. And they've also posted average gains in September over those years.
The S&P 500 itself gained nothing in September in the past five years, and posted losses during the month in both 2016 and last year.
