TeslaCEO Elon Musk said on social media on Wednesday that Tesla suspended the use of bitcoin to pay for car purchases, but would not sell any bitcoin.
Mr Musk said he was concerned about the environmental impact of Bitcoin and that Tesla was considering using a cryptocurrency with lower energy consumption.
On the news, Bitcoin then plunged by about $1970, falling below $53000, and falling more than 6.0 per cent on the day as a whole. Ethernet Square fell more than $150 in the short term, falling below $4000 again. The Swiss dollar fell sharply in the short term, falling below US $1.35 per piece, down 8.93% on the day. The intraday drop of the dog coin widened to more than 12%, and now stands at US $0.44 per piece.
