After reports about Elon Musk's Twitter, threatening legal action against Mark Zuckerberg's Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:META) surfaced, the tech billionaire has given his take on the matter.

What Happened: On Thursday, after it was widely reported Twitter intended to sue Meta for allegedly poaching its former employees to create the "copycat" Threads app, which closely resembles the microblogging site, Musk has finally given his take on the matter.

He took to Twitter and said that while having competition is fine in this landscape, "cheating" is not.

His tweet was in response to a report stating Twitter lawyer Alex Spiro sent a letter to Meta accusing the social media conglomerate of a "systematic, willful, and unlawful misappropriation of Twitter's trade secrets and other intellectual property."

Why It's Important: For the unversed, on Wednesday evening, Meta's highly-anticipated Twitter clone went live and within five hours garnered almost 7.5 million users.

While many users are contemplating abandoning Musk's Twitter in favor of Meta's newly launched decentralized social media platform, others aren't too convinced and argue that Threads is a complete replica of the microblogging site.

Additionally, the data collection policy on Threads has also raised concerns among netizens and potential users — something Meta's Facebook already has a not-so-ideal history with.
