European Stocks Rise as Tech Shares Gain; Banks Fall -- Market Talk
1500 GMT - European markets move higher as gains for tech and renewable energy-related stocks offset losses for banks. The Stoxx Europe 600 rises 0.7%, the FTSE 100 advances 0.2% and the CAC 40 and DAX are up 0.6%. Brent crude falls 0.6% to $82.94 a barrel. The Dow drops 0.5%. Technology stocks such as Netcompany and Nordic Semiconductor gain while Vestas Wind Systems and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy also climb. Still, financial stocks are in the red, with Banco de Sabadell leading the decliners, falling 7% after following a report from Spanish business newspaper El Confidencial that the European Central Bank is mulling raising its capital requirements for Sabadell, CaixaBank and Unicaja.
