DJ LafargeHolcim Signs Deal With HeidelbergCement to Acquire Greek Business

By Olivia Bugault

LafargeHolcim Ltd. said Wednesday that its subsidiary Heracles Group has signed a deal with Halyps Domia Ylika SA--a Greek company owned by HeidelbergCement AG--for the acquisition of its aggregates business and two concrete plants in Greece.

The Swiss cement maker said that the acquisition of the aggregates business in the Greek town of Mandra and the two ready-mix concrete plants which based in Gerakas and Aspropyrgos, two suburbs of Athens, will help the group accelerate its growth in the country.

The companies didn't disclose the financial details of the deal.

In a separate statement on Wednesday, HeidelbergCement said the sale of its Greek business would help optimize its portfolio. "The company will focus on its core business in Greece and continue the cement production through its subsidiary Halyps Cement," the German cement maker said.
