Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger (Mike Krieger) announced on Wednesday that he will join Anthropic as Chief Product Officer.
Anthropic is an artificial intelligence (AI) startup that Amazon invests in. Currently, Amazon's total investment in Anthropic has reached 4 billion US dollars, which is the largest external investment in the company's 30-year history. The company hopes to gain an advantage in the artificial intelligence competition.
Krieger was the chief technology officer at Instagram, a subsidiary of Meta Platforms. During his tenure, the number of users of the platform grew to 1 billion, and the number of engineers on the team exceeded 450.
Krieger and another Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom (Kevin Systrom) recently developed a personalized news app, Artifact, and sold it to Yahoo.
Around May of last year, Anthropic only launched the first version of its chatbot, with no consumer visits and no market response.
Today, Anthropic is one of the hottest artificial intelligence startups, and its products compete directly with OpenAI's ChatGPT in both the business and consumer sectors. Krieger's entry is likely to further intensify this kind of competition.
