Sun Life Financial Inc. reported a slight decrease in underlying net income for the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period last year, with a 2% drop to $875 million, while reported net income saw a marginal increase. Despite lower earnings, the company experienced an 8% increase in assets under management, reaching $1,470 billion, and announced a dividend hike from $0.78 to $0.81 per share. The company emphasized strong insurance sales and asset management growth as part of their Client Impact strategy, alongside a commitment to shareholder returns through increased dividends and anticipated share buybacks.
