According to the news, BP is seeking to acquire Tesla's overcharging site

According to reports, BP's electric vehicle charging division is actively seeking to acquire Tesla's overcharging sites, including receiving employees at these sites, to expand its own charging network.

According to the report, BP plans to invest 1 billion US dollars by 2030 to install more than 3,000 charging points across the US. The company plans to invest $500 million of this $1 billion over the next two to three years.

According to the report, BP's strategy includes building high-capacity charging stations, each with 12 or more charging stations, which the company calls “Gigahub.”

A week earlier, it was reported that Tesla CEO Elon Musk fired 500 employees in the overcharging department, as part of Tesla's previously announced plan to lay off 10% of the global workforce.

Tesla currently accounts for about 74% of all high-speed charging stations for electric vehicles in North America. The company's charging stations have always been rated higher than those of its competitors, which gave companies such as British Petroleum a strong incentive to try to take over some charging stations and retain existing employees.

In October of last year, BP and Tesla signed an agreement to purchase Tesla overcharge hardware worth about 100 million US dollars. Deployment will begin later this year or early 2025.
