S&P 500, Dow Jones Industrial Average and Nasdaq Composite All Rise

Stocks closed higher Monday as investors awaited some key companies' quarterly earnings and fresh reads on the Federal Reserve's interest-rate stance.

The $Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC.US)$ climbed 192.92 points (1.2%) to a 16,349.25 close, while the $S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ added 52.95 ticks (0.1%) to 5,180.74.

Meanwhile, the $Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI.US)$ gained 176.26 points (0.5%) to 38,851.94.

Among stocks of note:

-- $Palantir (PLTR.US)$ climbed 8.1% to $25.21 and was the most searched stock on moomoo in preparation for the firm's expected earnings release after the market closed on Monday. Analysts were reportedly expecting earnings of $0.08 per share on revenue of $625.43 million.

-- $Micron Technology (MU.US)$ rose 4.7% to $120.13 after Baird raised its rating and price target for the stock.

-- $Super Micro Computer (SMCI.US)$ climbed 6.1% to $830.35.

--$Tyson Foods (TSN.US)$ was on the other end of the spectrum, down 5.8% to $58.50 after its Monday earnings release projected muted sales for Q3 and Q4.

MACRO

This week, investors can expect comments from Federal Reserve Gov. Michelle Bowman and Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari, along with the latest University of Michigan consumer-sentiment and inflation-expectations surveys and EIA energy-supply numbers.
