An Air Force instructor pilot was killed when the ejection seat activated while the jet was still on the ground at a Texas military base, the Air Force said Tuesday. The instructor pilot was in a T-6A Texan II at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, when the seat activated during ground operations on Monday. The pilot was taken to a hospital and died Tuesday, the Air Force said.

China's state-owned aircraft manufacturer COMAC is working on preliminary designs for a new widebody jet called the C939, the South China Morning Post reported, citing a source familiar with the matter. Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, which is expanding production facilities for its C919 narrowbody jets, has sketched out preliminary designs for the new aircraft, according to the report published late on Monday. The new jet would expand commercial operations for COMAC amid ambitions by Beijing to take market share from industry leaders Airbus and Boeing.

SHANGHAI (Reuters) -Chinese electric vehicle maker Nio on Wednesday launched the first vehicle in its new lower-priced brand Onvo which aims to compete there with Tesla's Model Y, the world's best-selling EV. Nio unveiled the Onvo L60 SUV with a sticker price starting from 219,900 yuan ($30,476), 12% below the price of Tesla's Model Y which starts at 249,900 yuan in China. Nio plans to start delivery of the Onvo L60 in September.
