We are pleased to announce that ABEJA Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and CEO: Yosuke Okada; hereinafter “ABEJA”), which “implements a spacious world” through collaboration between humans and AI, has newly established initiatives utilizing Google Cloud to utilize Google Cloud's advanced AI technology with the aim of promoting the utilization of generative AI in the Japanese market.
Since its establishment, ABEJA has been working to realize social implementation of AI and DX in a wide variety of industries and business categories. ABEJA uses Google Cloud to realize social implementation of AI in the AI/deep learning domain. From 2022 onwards, the digitization of analog information using Google Workspace and the ability to use AI built into the ABEJA Platform without code will be provided as a package, making it possible for client companies to build everything from digitizing analog information to using unique AI such as automatic email replies and simple demand forecasting.
Since 2018, ABEJA has been proceeding with research and development on a large-scale language model (Large Language Model, hereinafter “LLM”), which is one type of generative AI, and successfully learned LLM in 2022 by utilizing 960 or more NVIDIA GPUs on Google Cloud and our own NVIDIA GPUs. Since 2023/3, the “ABEJA LLM Series,” which applies the LLM learned, has been installed on the ABEJA Platform and provided to client companies.
Currently, ABEJA has been selected for the “Post-5G Information Communication System Infrastructure Enhancement Research and Development Project/Post-5G Information Communication System Development Project/Post-5G Information Communication System Development Project” publicly solicited by the National Research and Development Corporation New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (hereinafter “NEDO”), and is conducting research and development of Japanese LLM and peripheral technology with the aim of dramatically improving accuracy and computational cost performance, which are essential for social implementation of LLM. ABEJA is also using Google Cloud in this business, and specifically, it is receiving A3 GPU supercomputers and technical support through NEDO. In order to further promote the utilization of generative AI in Japan, ABEJA will proceed with the following new initiatives together with Google Cloud.

1. Dissemination activities for the correct use of generative AI
We plan dissemination activities aimed at realizing responsible AI development, and carry out public relations activities such as external events and media postings.
2. Verification of Google Cloud's Generative AI Service
We provide technical support for verification and verification of Google Cloud's generative AI service.
3. Provision of generative AI development services
We provide generative AI development services that can be built in a short period of time even by members without advanced knowledge about IT or AI.
4. Strengthening mutual cooperation between ABEJA LLM Series and Google Cloud generative AI services
We will proceed with the study of areas where mutual cooperation between ABEJA LLM Series and Google Cloud generative AI developed and provided by ABEJA is possible. In the medium to long term, ABEJA plans to develop and operate LLMs targeting specific industries and specific uses on Google Cloud, and after construction, it will provide relevant services to Google Cloud users.
