Total active drilling rigs in the U.S. fell by 5 to 624, reversing last week's increase, according to the latest rig count report Friday from Baker Hughes.
Drilling rigs targeting crude oil in the U.S. dropped by 1 to 509, and gas rigs fell by 4 to 112 - their lowest level since January 2022 - while 3 rigs remained classified as miscellaneous.
Baker Hughes said the total count was still down 134 rigs, or 18%, below this time last year.
Rigs targeting crude oil in the Permian Basin lost 1 to 309, while oil rigs in the Eagle Ford stayed flat at 50.
