SUBARU and Aisin begin collaboration on eAxle for next-generation electric vehicles

SUBARU Co., Ltd. (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Atsushi Osaki, hereafter, SUBARU) and our company will bring in vehicles from both companies and knowledge and know-how related to transmission development, and install them in battery EVs that Subaru will begin production in the latter half of the 2020s*1We have agreed to jointly develop and share production.

This joint development is based on the concept of high efficiency, light weight and compactness, and we will proceed with development to achieve various performances that take into account the customer's usage environment. Furthermore, considering the maintenance and development of the existing supply chain, where the business environment changes drastically due to the progress of vehicle electrification, both companies will consider optimal parts suppliers and production schemes.

SUBARU has established a roadmap for 2050 with the aim of contributing to the realization of a carbon-neutral society, and is accelerating initiatives such as electrification.
Aisin aims to achieve a carbon-neutral society based on both “production” and “product,” and is working on developing technology for miniaturization and high efficiency for eAxle, which is its top priority product.

The two companies will continue to pursue possibilities for collaboration in various fields, and will contribute to the further development of an electrified society by realizing high value-added products and technologies unique to both companies.
