According to Zhitong Financial App, BENG SOON MACH (01987) announced that the Group expects to lose about S$2.6 million after income tax in the six months ending June 30, 2023, and profit of about S$200,000 after income tax for the same period in 2022. These anticipated post-tax losses are mainly due to the significant reduction in earnings confirmed by the Group during the relevant period because a number of ongoing projects are in the final stages. Although the Group has obtained a number of new projects, such projects are still in the preparation stage, and the Group was unable to confirm relevant revenue during this period; and its prices plummeted due to the unfavorable Asian market environment during this period, which reduced demand for scrap in Singapore and other countries (such as mainland China). This impact on the Group's earnings, business and financial performance during the period was concentrated.
