Why Did Shipping Stocks Sell Off Yesterday? This could be some simple profit taking since most shipping stocks have had a great start to 2024. If it is a simple profit take, then the rally will likely continue eventually if the Red Sea tensions escalate further or last longer than expected. shipping companies .. maybe cuz of the Yemen situation
QianmengYuSpyderCall楼主:
wow Biden just did, which blocks feasible land transportation from East Asia South Asia bypassing Suez. Kazakhstan, Caspian sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey? Iraq/Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel? Or Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan then Egypt? I’d rather stay with sea shipping.
SpyderCall楼主QianmengYu:
There is one thought in the back of my head that thinks the US could take over the Red Sea situation completely very soon and resolve all of the shipping problems. Teekay's high ROE and significant reinvestment of profits into the business have resulted in substantial earnings growth, which is a positive sign for the company's performance.
Investors may foresee Teekay's robust revenue growth underperforming the industry, contributing to a low P/S ratio. Despite shrinking revenue, shareholders seem accepting. Significant share price movement seems unlikely in light of recent trends.
Teekay's impressive investment and high returns have sparked considerable earnings growth. Investors should assess whether this growth is reflected in the current stock price.

During the fourth quarter of 2022, mid-sized spot tanker rates surged to among the highest rates ever recorded, which resulted in Teekay posting its highest consolidated adjusted net earnings per share in 14 years.
