With the soaring price of gasoline in the United States, a small town in California has attracted people's attention with its highest oil price in the United States.

The coastal town of Gorda, located on the coast of Big Sur, California, has always been known for having the highest gasoline prices in the United States. There is only one gas station in this town. The nearest gas station out of town is 40 miles north and 12 miles south.

As of Thursday, the price of regular unleaded gasoline here had reached $7.59 a gallon, more than double the national average, and premium gasoline had reached $8.50 a gallon.

The national average gasoline price is $3.36 a gallon, the highest since 2014. Oil prices in Los Angeles County averaged $4.50, the highest level since October 2012.

The American Automobile Association (AAA) said the surge in gasoline prices was driven by the price of crude oil, which is now about $80 a barrel, much higher than in August, when oil prices hovered around $60 a barrel.

Patrick De Haan, director of crude oil analysis at GasBuddy, a gasoline price tracking website, said: "until several bottlenecks in the supply chain and low global oil, gas and coal inventories are alleviated, we will not be able to get rid of the pressure caused by rising oil and gasoline prices. The bad news is that for now, what I see is that the upward trend in oil prices will continue for several weeks, and there is no sign of abating. "
