Two wildfires in California's Sequoia and King Canyon National Park (Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks) have increased fivefold to an area of more than 2299 hectares, causing local officials to issue evacuation orders several times, Capitol Hill reported on Sept. 15.

Mark Ruggiero, a spokesman for Sequoia and King Canyon National Park, said the fire had deteriorated sharply in recent days and park officials had issued evacuation orders and warnings several times. Another park official said that due to the steep terrain, it is difficult for firefighters to reach the fire area, so it is difficult to put out the fire.

The Tulari county sheriff's office said the growing risk of the fire had forced part of the park to close. At present, 110 buildings in the mandatory evacuation area are threatened by fire, and another 1189 buildings are in the evacuation warning area. (CCTV reporter Liu Xu)
