The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Foundation said on Wednesday that if Melinda French Gates or Bill Gates concluded that they could not work together as co-chairs, she would resign as co-chair and trustee.
Two months ago, MicrosoftCo-founder Bill Gates announced his divorce from his wife Melinda, ending 27 years of marriage.
If Melinda does leave the foundation, she will receive "personal resources" from Bill Gates for charitable purposes, separate from the foundation's funds, the foundation said in a statement.
Bill Gates and Melinda jointly pledged $14 billion in new funding to the group, which spent more than $5 billion in 2019, the foundation said.
The foundation said the two sides had agreed to increase the number of trustees. Warren Buffett (Warren Buffett) announced his resignation as trustee of the foundation in June.
