What is the competitive landscape of smartphone processor manufacturers in the first quarter of 2024?
The Zhitong Finance App learned that Canalys released smartphone processor manufacturer data for the first quarter of 2024 (based on smartphone shipment statistics): MediaTek maintained the first place in the smartphone processor market, with a global market share of 39%. Shipments of smartphones equipped with Apple processors fell 16% year over year, yet Apple (AAPL.US) still accounts for 41% of total global smartphone revenue.
MediaTek's processor shipments reached 114.1 million units, an increase of 17% over the previous year. Xiaomi (01810), Samsung, and OPPO are the top three contributors, accounting for 23%, 20%, and 17% of MediaTek smartphone processor shipments, respectively.
Qualcomm (QCOM.US) smartphone processor shipments increased 11% to 75 million units. 46% of shipments came from Samsung and Xiaomi, respectively.
Ziguang Zhanrui grew the fastest among the top five smartphone processor manufacturers, with a year-on-year increase of 64%, reaching 26 million units. Thanks to the expansion of its main partner Transom in emerging markets such as Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East Africa, and Latin America, smartphone shipments in these regions have all achieved double-digit growth.
