Many Arrail Group Limited (HKG:6639) insiders ditched their stock over the past year, which may be of interest to the company's shareholders. Knowing whether insiders are buying is usually more helpful when evaluating insider transactions, as insider selling can have various explanations. However, if numerous insiders are selling, shareholders should investigate more.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

Arrail Group Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The Executive Director, Jincai Zhang, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for HK$4.1m worth of shares at a price of HK$13.42 each. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. The good news is that this large sale was at well above current price of HK$8.01. So it is hard to draw any strong conclusion from it.

It appears that Arrail Group insiders own 11% of the company, worth about HK$520m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
