DJ Great Wall Motor's Surge Another Sign of Investor Focus on Auto-Tech Tie-Ups -- Market Talk
0419 GMT - Talk of an EV partnership is sending another car maker's shares soaring, the latest indication that investors tend to bet on car makers that tie up with tech giants. Hong Kong-listed shares of Great Wall Motor surged 12% on Friday morning after a reported EV cooperation with Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi. Earlier this year, news of Geely Automobile's respective EV partnerships with Baidu and Tencent drove the car maker's shares sharply higher. Globally, a potential car partnership between Hyundai Motor and Apple led to a rise in the South Korean auto maker's shares in January, although the talks between the two sides were later broken off.
