studies have shown that investors have a tendency to buy high and sell low. the average investor from 2001 to 2020 averaged only 2.9% where the S&p 500 averaged 7.5% over the same period. to overcome emotional investing use a technique called dollar cost averaging. this is an investment strategy where you systematically invest a certain amount on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis. this will reduce the likelihood that hot trends, unexpected market even...

I have bought at high too. It all depends on individual risk appetite. An investor will have a few options:
1. Hold the stocks and wait if you have the holding power and the amt is not too big
2. Buy in and average down. this will make the break even price lower (if u have the capital)
3. Sell and cut losses first if u forsee it dropping even further and buy back at a later stage.
Remember there is no such thing as sure gain. Invest within your means and be prepared to lose what...

Well if u research n bought into long term investment company buying high way out will be dollars cost averaging if the price drop. If u are trading buying high best to cut if price dropped 20% to preserve the capital n deploy it to other stocks. For momentum trading high gets higher but once trend reverse better follow n get out. Well easy said than done as we human are all emotional animals n hard to admit n realize loss....

when I buy stocks high I like to cross average so I buy at the low as well. This helps me get a more average stock price where I can get gains again.

Picking stocks in an attempt to beat market averages is an incredibly challenging. So why not to join it and make the average return?

Hi, mooers! Welcome back to MooHumor again! You guys must have been through a bumpy week.
The market was going up and down without any clue, playing with investors' feelings like a playboy. Fortunately, mooers can always learn something from every trade. The lesson taught by the recent market is that: "don't believe everything you see." Especially those things that are too good to be true.
Howard Marks's "second level thinking" may be an excellent principle to follow. Investors need to go beyond the obvious and avoid unintended consequences.
As usual, vote first plz
