(Kuala Lumpur, 17th report) Genting $GENTING (3182.MY)$ after launching a full takeover offer, has increased its stake in Genting Malaysia through open market purchases for two consecutive days at prices below the offer price of MYR 2.35, $GENM (4715.MY)$ with the current shareholding exceeding 50%.
According to the equity change announcement, Genting purchased a total of 36.1 million shares of Genting Malaysia on Tuesday (14th) and Wednesday (15th), increasing its stake from 49.36% to 50.02%.
The announcement disclosed that Genting made three separate purchases on Tuesday at MYR 2.31, MYR 2.32, and MYR 2.33 per share, acquiring 500,000 shares, 8 million shares, and 500,000 shares of Genting Malaysia in the open market, completing a total transaction of 9 million shares.
The following day, Genting completed the transaction of 27.1 million shares at a price of RM2.33 per share.
Genting announced on Monday (the 13th) that it would acquire the remaining shares it does not hold at RM2.35 per share or a total of RM6.7446 billion to advance the privatization process and delist from the stock exchange.
At that time, Genting held 49.36% of Genting Malaysia's equity.
