when the entire market is red and down, sometimes overleveraged traders on margin call are forced to liquidate profitable positions to cover losses.
so not uncommon for even gold positions to be sold off in a market downturn. but generally after that on recovery, gold recovers first.
most of the market is deep red today, it is not just an isolated precious metals problem
