Alright folks, with the BoC meeting just around the corner, here’s my take as someone who’s been watching these trends closely. The latest CPI numbers show inflation dipping to 1.7% in April, but that’s mainly due to falling energy prices. Strip out energy, and core inflation is still stubbornly high at over 3%. Meanwhile, unemployment ticked up to 6.9%, signaling economic slowdown.
