Many headlines are stating that Michael Burry just bought $1.6 billion of $SPDR S&P 500 ETF(SPY.US$ and $Invesco QQQ Trust(QQQ.US$ puts.
However, this is very misleading as the real value of the puts he bought is much LOWER.
NOMINAL VALUE is reported, not the amount Burry paid for the puts.
Due to the way options are reported, this is a common misconception.

Tesla’s earnings report looks decent to me. Reasons for the sell off could be the following:
- Classic buy the rumours, sell the news aka profit taking
- Market is forward looking, and thus pricing in the prospect of potential more price cuts ahead, as well as slower production due to factories upgrade
Netflix plummeted, and the reasons can be attributed to:
It, however, reported a record 5.9 million subscribers. Again, the earnings doesn’t look too bad.
