151323736 OP 狼来啦 : I had put option, can't sell yet, hopefully its still this negative tomorrow morning, I can sell with a small loss only :) like holy you don't understand me from accepting i lost 80% value of a 16dte 380p, to losing potentially like 20% value or even less, depending on the exact size of IV crush, i priced this from a 61% IV (my option) to 42% which is already more than usual and conservative. In best case scenario, if broadcom drops a bit more to -4%, i actually make a decent profit, but even a small loss is heaven for me at this point

151323736 OP : If broadcom is +2% or below at market opening tomorrow, vast majority call options are actually slightly negative due to IV crush, i went with a reasonable 25% of existing IV. So 60% IV crushes to 45%. Again, its uncertain how high it will be tomorrow by pre market. Sorry for too many comments, i am contemplating my life right now after my put was destroyed. I did only invest what i can lose, and its not actually 0 either (like 20% of its original value after IV crush) but yeah

My theory wasn't wrong, i was just greedy. But i only invested minimal, lost 1200USD i think, its something I can afford to lose, no loan or anything so yeah

151323736 OP Bakster : well i didn't go that short dated, but its a 75% loss of value, i plug in 42% IV vs 60% at close (sensible IV crush). It is what it is. honestly I might just hold it tomorrow, I think a modest drop is coming tomorrow considering how weak broadcom seems to be even with this insane beat

Opposite direction means that a few hedges are actually losing money potentially who is on the losing end of this battle. See this big V here? Strong upside and downside pressure, hence after 30minutes low variance

151323736 OP darkthunder : No, like I just want to know for future reference. Persistant shorting of a stock that is already way cheaper than its peers for a week after hitting bottom. Opportunity cost also suggests multiple better options else where. Because its a learning experience for me, I just don't get the underlying reason. Stock hasn't gone much lower for a week, I would be going somewhere else.

151323736 OP Tadahking : what do you mean? I think this stock is worth way more than it is currently, bullish for sure. The uncertainty is how long its remain in the 60's and 70's. In a few months will go back above 100 for sure. I asked about shorties because its irrational for both institutional and individuals to still short this with such high volume despite many signs this won't go much lower. Hence my confusion, i don't understand the underlying reason, that's all. 2x long etf is good purchase right now

151323736 OP Tan8919 : Price is relative to the all the financial indicators, its because a stock is at ATH does not mean the stock will get shorted, its all relative to the 'fair value' which have different estimations. Yes for bigger companies, they would to be more clearly mispriced for this to happen relative to coreweave. But it still happens, just like nvidia in the past few days (Slightly too high P/E TTM compared to mag7 peers). Also, short selling does push price down, thats the inherent mehanic. There are many ways to short sell, the most obvious is burrowing shares they don't have selling it, and buying back at a later date, that inherently pushes price down immediately. I want to make it very clear that insiders, execs etc selling is not included in this discussion, they simply hold a large stake this company did not burrow the shares and they want to diversify their porfolio or just need a bit of cash.

151323736 OP Tan8919 : Yes, standard fair value metrics only work partially here with low confidence. Nvidia is a clearer case as permenant exits large enough to majorly impact the share price significantly is rare. executive sell amounts is trivial, hence short seller + hedge fund would make up most of the effect. Harder to tell with coreweave. Even though I don't understand the short volume sustained high. the fact that this share hasn't crashed below 65 means strong hands like ark is buying every time its hedged down, which definitely is a good sign
