On October 23rd, Ackman posted that he had covered bond shorts that he took in August 2023.
This marked the EXACT PEAK in the 10-year note yield, at 5.00%.
Yesterday, Ackman placed a bet that the Fed would cut rates in Q1 2024.
This is well ahead of market expectations which show rate cuts beginning in June 2024.
Today, the 10-year note yield hit a 2-month low and is now down 70 basis points since Ackman covered his bond shorts.

The 10-year treasury yield hit 4.9% - the very first time we see such rate since 2007. For info, it went above 5% back then. At this rate, it’s sooner or later that we see 5% again.
As shared, this high yield is a competition to the stock market in the near term because it is deemed as less risky.
Investors will be wondering when is this yield topping out? Where is the peak?

As long as the Hamas-Israel conflict is contained, the year end rally could still be in. Though we are still early in the earnings season, companies’ earnings are generally looking okay / decent.
But if the war escalates to a Middle East war and causing an oil crisis, then the stock market will not like it
