Many investors may believe that a large inflow of funds will inevitably lead to a rise in price, while a significant outflow will result in a decline. However, inflows and outflows do not always correlate 100% with price movements. This is primarily because fund flows are calculated based on active buying and selling, whereas the final stock price movement is influenced by actual trading volumes.

Inflow 👉 Active buying, i.e., A-order, refers to directly purchasing at the ask price without waiting in the buy queue.
Outflow 👉 Active selling, i.e., B shares, not passively waiting in the sell queue but directly selling into the buy queue for execution.
Although a large inflow is generally favorable for stock prices and tends to drive them higher, when there is substantial volume queued in the sell orders, passive selling can create resistance to upward momentum. This may result in a scenario where, despite a significant inflow, the stock price fails to rise and instead falls, which actually reflects poor performance.
Conversely, while a large outflow is typically unfavorable for stock prices and tends to push them lower, when there is substantial passive buying interest, it indicates underlying support. This can prevent the stock price from falling and may even lead to a situation where, despite a major outflow, the stock price does not decline but rises instead, reflecting strong market resilience.
