Yesterday we discussed what dividends are,
Today let's take a step further 👉 how to choose dividend stocks worth investing in?
I have organized 4 key indicators that beginners can understand.
With this list, you can start filtering your own "dividend-paying stocks" annually 📬💰.
✅ 1 | There is confidence in holding long-term only if there is a record of continuous dividends.
Check if the company has dividends every year for the past 3 to 5 years.
Stable dividends = indicates strong earning capability of the company + willingness to return value to Shareholders.
📌 Do not choose companies that distribute dividends once a year or have no news for two years~
✅ 2|The dividend yield should be reasonable, not the higher the better.
Many people only look at whether the "dividend yield is high" at first, but this is actually very dangerous!
📌 Dividend yield = Annual dividend ÷ Stock price
📌 Generally, a 4% to 6% yield is considered healthy; anything higher might be a "trap."
💡 A very high dividend yield = the company might be having issues, leading to a plummeting stock price!
✅ 3 | The company itself must continue to make money.
When selecting stocks, look at whether the Net income has been steadily increasing over the past few years.
If a company has:
Profitability.
No significant fluctuations.
Stable operation.
Only then does it have the ability to continue distributing dividends, which provides peace of mind for long-term holding!
✅ 4 | Debt should not be too high
Companies with high debt face particularly great pressure during economic downturns or interest rate hikes.
I usually would:
Prioritize industries with strong cash flow (Bank, Telecommunications, Utilities).
Check if the company's debt is becoming ‘lighter’.
📌 High debt = the company prioritizes itself first and may not necessarily take care of the Shareholder.🥲
🧠 To summarize: beginners choose dividends...

$MAYBANK (1155.MY)$
📌Do you know why so many people like to buy Maybank Stocks?
It's not just because it's 'stable', but because it has been making money, will make money, and can share that money with you💸
Today, I will briefly talk about three key points, which are not complicated; you will understand after reading this!
⸻
🟡 1️⃣ How does Maybank make money?
Maybank is not only one of the largest Banks in Malaysia but also a financial all-rounder.
✅ Earning from the difference between deposits and loan interest (most stable)
✅ Providing Islamic financial services (world leader)
✅ Involved in Asset Management + Insurance Business
✅ Also have Business in countries like Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines
👉 It's not just a traditional Bank; it's a "financial group" with many diverse ways of making money!
⸻
🟢 2️⃣ How will Maybank continue to make money in the future?
This is the key! The projects that Maybank will pursue in the future have great, great, great potential:
💥 Johor DayOne Data Center financing (2.5 billion Ringgit)
📱 Digital banking services are being fully developed (App, AI credit lending)
🌱 Green financing + ESG projects (attracting large Institutional investments)
👉 It is investing money into directions that can be profitable for the next 10 years.
⸻
🟠 3️⃣ Why can it distribute dividends every year.
💡 Not every company can do **"Make money → Share with you"**.
Maybank is one of the few banks that consistently distributes dividends without hesitation.
📌 Stable cash flow and substantial profits.
