YTD: 36 Ship Orders (2024 Target is US$4.5B)
According to trade news, Singapore's Xinpu Chemical (SP Chemicals) Company, which changed from a chemical plant to a shipowner, ordered 3 99,000 cubic meter very large ethane carriers (VLEC) from the Chinese shipyard Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Industry. Yangzijiang Shipbuilding entered the VLEC construction market with this order.

默默无闻的学徒 : Shipbuilding industry sources said that the three VLECs contracted by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding this time use B-type liquid cargo tank solutions and were designed by the China Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering Design and Research Institute. The cost of a single ship is no more than US$160 million. Based on this calculation, the total order value is approximately US$480 million (approximately RMB 3.46 billion), and the new ship is expected to be delivered between 2027 and 2028. Further contract details are yet to be announced.
If Yangzijiang Shipbuilding's three VLECs are officially announced, it will be the biggest VLEC contract so far this year. This is not only the first VLEC order that a Chinese shipyard has accepted this year, but also marks that Yangzijiang Shipbuilding will become the first private shipyard in China to enter the VLEC construction market.
