MemoriesInSlowMotion : US didnt send anything to Taiwan, they merely approved the sale of 11b+ of weapons to Taiwan. Personally i dun think they will ever be delivered. US is just treating Taiwan as a push over ATM. Taiwan has purchased and mostly paid around 30b worth of weapons and only a portion of it are actually being built or delivered. the most recent one is a batch of 66 fighter jets. Already fully paid for and none of them have been built yet (already breached the contract terms).
Also, China won't go to war with Taiwan over this. China is too smart for this. Wars are expensive. Mainly only US makes money from wars (triggering wars in other countries). This is just sabre rattling and posturing. They need to express displeasure and be seen to be doing something. All the news about China attacking Taiwan is just US propaganda and they have been saying it will happen soon for the last 10 years.
In any case, allow me to digress bit. if war really breaks out. US will most likely mobilise their allies (colonies) first and stay out of harms way (they haven't really been using their troops for any real fighting in the past decade - require political ammo). IMO they will also likely pull out after their 1st ship is sunk. their fleet is too old and ill maintained. they wont be able to sustain a long fight. my guess is that they will do a scorched earth strategy on Taiwan when they do...
