Hopes for a dovish Fed
Wall Street is entering the upcoming week on a positive note after receiving some good news. The latest inflation data suggests that the Federal Reserve has concluded its rate-hike campaign, coupled with declining Treasury yields. Both the consumer price index and producer price index for October came in cooler than expected.
Investors have begun contemplating when the central bank might start unwinding its tightening program, further boosting bullish sentiment. On Friday, the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average recorded their longest weekly winning streak since July.
Investors will get more insight into the Fed's potential moves Tuesday, when the minutes from its Oct. 31-Nov. 1 meeting are released.
Thanksgiving trading
In recent years, trading around the Thanksgiving holiday has been volatile, according to the Stock Trader's Almanac. Since 1988, the Dow Jones Industrial Average has gained during the Wednesday-through-Friday stretch only 18 times out of 34.
Furthermore, the markets will remain closed on Thursday due to the Thanksgiving holiday, and close early on Friday.
