  • Wilhelm : While I don't play bonds, but I'm happy to learn about them and expand my portfolio. It's been a long week for markets, from the US credit downgrade to the current malaise. Hope AMD can rise soonundefinedundefinedundefined$Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.US)$

  • PassiveLearner : it looks like past few hikes to control inflation are taking effect on the stock markets, others are slowly averaging down their stocks into Bond for safer measures till the market stabilises.

short term bonds or moomoo's $Fullerton SGD Cash Fund (SG9999005961.MF)$ cash plus fund might be a better choice while we wait for a better entry price.

Just my own opinion and not advising 😉👍

  • 102392341 : I think many like me would remain steadfast to long term investment, and also have a split between equities and bond in their portfolio.

  • ZnWC : There are many types of US Treasury bond and Treasury bills or "T-bills" have the shortest maturities -- 13 weeks, 26 weeks, and one year. They are the safest bonds of all because the interest and principal payments are guaranteed by the U.S. government.

Since the T-bill rate is fixed, investors tend to sell T-bills when the Fed is hiking rates because the T-bill rates are less attractive. A rising federal funds rate tends to draw money away from Treasuries and into higher-yielding investments.

The best time to invest in short term US Treasury bonds depends on your risk appetite. Beside the Fed rate hike, there is also the USD exchange rate risk (against SGD) that I need to consider.  I prefer Fullerton SGD cash plus Fund and Singapore Saving Bond (SSB) which has a more flexible liquidity and invested in SGD.

  • 102362254 : Short-term US treasury bonds are low-risk investments due to the backing of the US government. Such bonds are good for preserving capital, but their returns are normally lower compared to other investments. I prefer options trading for my investment strategy.

  • 湖泊面积3333 : Recently, it is suitable to adopt a barbell strategy to obtain high profits in the short and long term, but now the yield in the middle term is not very attractive and can be avoided as much as possible

  • cola1010 : Short-term US Treasury bonds, such as Treasury bills (T-bills), have varying maturities and provide safety backed by the US government. Investors lend money to the US government in exchange for interest and the return of the principal. Because of government backing, these bonds are relatively safe. Market factors affect terms, interest, and yield. I prefer short-term US government bonds as they are viable investment.
