Make Your Choice Weekly Buzz | Stocks Remain Resilient
U.S. stocks rose as the job market remained resilient. Macro data for the week -- like low unemployment and low University of Michigan inflation expectations -- added signs that prices might be cooling, fueling hopes that the Federal Reserve can achieve its 2% inflation goal without breaking the economy.
For the week, the $S&P 500 Index(.SPX.US)$ rose 0.21% to 4,604, while the $Dow Jones Industrial Average(.DJI.US)$ gained 0.02% to 36,247. The $Nasdaq Composite Index(.IXIC.US)$ closed 0.69% higher for the week at 14,403.97.
All three major indexes rose for a sixth straight week, according to Dow Jones Market Data.
The week's big economic report came from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, which released its November jobs report on Friday. November nonfarm payroll gains beat economists' average estimate, while the unemployment rate fell below all forecasts compiled by Bloomberg.
Average hourly earnings rose 0.4% from the prior month, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said. Separately, the University of Michigan's U.S. Consumer Sentiment Index rose 13% in December, erasing all declines from the previous four months.
The school said the gains were mainly driven by improvements in consumer expectations for inflation's trajectory. Inflation expectations fell to the lowest since March 2021, the survey showed.

  • 102362254 : Simply joining the AI trend won't guarantee success. I need more than just hype. It takes much more for a firm to garner my true attention as a winner. Just riding the wave of AI hype won't cut it. To stand out, an AI product's gotta have top-notch tech that can tackle all sorts of tricky stuff, a real-world problem it solves like a champ, and a unique edge that beats out what's already out there.

  • cola1010 : A company must do a few things in order to capture attention and succeed in the AI market, especially with new products like Google Gemini on the market. They should come up with really new and impressive solutions, show they can be trusted by having a good history of making things work well, care about doing AI in a fair and right way, be able to work in lots of different industries, make their AI easy and nice for people to use, and always work on making their AI better. If a company can do all of these things – be creative, fair, flexible, user-friendly, and constantly improving – they will undoubtedly be regarded as a top player in the competitive world of AI.

  • 小trader : To capture my genuine attention as a winner in the AI space, a firm needs to demonstrate more than just following a trend like launching an AI product because it's popular. To me,  a winning AI firm combines innovation, practical results, scalability, adaptability, ethical considerations, user-centric design, and market leadership to capture genuine attention.

  • GodSpeed289 : Winning the AI race isn’t just about technological prowess; it’s about harnessing the power of AI to benefit society, ensure ethical development, and leveraging AI’s transformative potential to address international pressing challenges while upholding ethical principles and global collaboration.

  • HuatEver : Goggle Gemini isn’t alone in the AI world. $Microsoft (MSFT.US)$ and $NVIDIA (NVDA.US)$  are also creating competitive challenges. To really emerge as winners companies should not just launch AI because it’s popular. They should prove that AI can make a positive impact to society. undefined undefined

  • ZnWC : In my previous posts, I mentioned that we see the rise in artificial intelligence stocks in 1H 2024. But for a company stocks to be the true winner, launching an AI product is not enough. The AI technology need to revolutionise our way of life like ChatGTP at the start of this year. The bear may warn about AI bubble which is true if the technology couldn't reach the next level AGI (General Intelligence).

There are firms trying to achieve AGI for examples Tesla's FSD (Full Self Drive) using neural network self learning and Microsoft's Hanover project to predict the most effective cancer drug treatment options for patients. Beside AI, I predict that there may be breakthrough is AI chip, supercomputing and ultra-speed internet (6G and beyond). New generation of clean energy storage to replace fossil fuels or related industry can create sparks in the stock market too.

Reuters reported that Fed interest rate pivotal may occur as early as May next year. If this is so, it will be the biggest catalysts for stock market provided US and China economies have not fallen into recession.

  • HuatLady : A company must demonstrate that AI benefits customers, solves problems ethically and considering public's sensitivity in order to garner my true attention as a winner.
Goggle Gemini seems like a versatile and safe model that that aims to revolutionize various domains promising ethical awareness, hence, potentially affecting our lives and routines. undefined undefined Let's  watch how this platform stays afloat in the AI game! undefined undefined

  • Hua Moo Lan : I think the success of an AI firm very much depends on a combination of technical excellence, business strategy and the ability to navigate the complex landscape of AI development and deployment.

For a firm to be able to stand out from the stiff competition in AI sector nowadays and garner my attention, first is to be able to demonstrate differentiator in innovation and technical advancement to solving complex problems. Secondly, the scalability of its AI solutions which is crucial in determining the practicality and long-term viability of an AI product/service.
