Warning: Beware of Online Investment Scams

Moomoo advises our users and the general public to be alert to online investment scams. Recently, we have taken note of an increasing number of scam incidents in multiple markets where moomoo operates, including the U.S., Australia, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan. The impact that fraud and scams can have on their victims is devastating. In the last month alone, we have seen three cases of the general public becoming victims of scams and identified at least five fake websites and apps. Moomoo prioritizes the safety and security of users' funds. We strongly recommend users and the public be vigilant with investment opportunities claiming to come from moomoo.
Spot the scam signs

Modern-day investment scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated. Here are some common scam scenarios:

Scenario 1: Scammers may impersonate staff of renowned platforms or institutions, such as moomoo, and get in touch with you via phone, email, SMS and third-party communication platforms (such as WhatsApp, Line, Discord, Telegram, etc. ). Some scammers will invite you to join group chats.

Scenario 2: There will be "investment experts" present in the group chat who may recommend high-yield investment opportunities.

Once the scammers have gained your trust, they will ask you to deposit or transfer money through a wire service or an online payment system to some platforms which are likely fake websites or apps of renowned platforms.

Scenario 3: In some cases, you may receive high-yield payments or see them reflected in your online account, but you'll be unable to withdraw all of your funds from the platform. Unfortunately, this is often the point at which people realize that they have fallen victim to a scam.
