  • 我要财富自由 : consensus is that there will be a rate cut soon. normally it will cause some volatility. either it signals bad economy that warrants rate cut, or it causes influx of hot money due to money printing

  • bad at investing OP 我要财富自由 : hi, do you receive any taxes like dividend tax and estate taxes? how it looks like? I'm curious [undefined] is it really true, that non USA resident will get taxed 30% and estate tax  of 40%?

  • HanabiSG : Thanks for reading up 2% of ETF investing! Generally all these tax only takes into effect when you have more than 60K in US stocks, this is inclusive of other individual stocks that you have. Estate Tax doesn't really matter, unless you die. So considering that now you are still on fractional shares, all these doesn't matter to you as of now. Hence there's a reason why some of us have already given you the alternative of going into CSPX. This will be your next research why we do that, since you can't be just capping at 60K for investment.

For the September, it is historically volatile due to CPI/Fed meeting. Hence I've said that last of August, to at least buy something so that you catch the first dip. As we won't know what is the result of the meeting, so the $593 is a good first trench before it dips lower. Then once the results are out, if it goes lower you can still buy a portion of it than to only purely aimming at the lowest of the dip (which timing the market is already hard). And if you missed it, at least you already had your first trench to buy the low. Suggest that you run some simulation to understand what I mean here, which is why DCA is important for long run then occasionally if you pop in to see a good dip opportunity just pump a little in.

  • bad at investing OP HanabiSG : damn.. so is not worth on investing USA stock and etf [undefined][undefined][undefined]
so mean that if I have earn near to $60k in future than I must sell it , to prevent getting tax?

  • bad at investing OP HanabiSG : so mean 1 of the stock or ETF , exceeded $60k will get tax or total of ETFs and stocks not just 1 but all combine together exceeded $60k?

  • bad at investing OP HanabiSG : cspx, sad that moomoo and longbridge don't have... [undefined] and now I still need to open the third brokerage [undefined]I think next time I download it when I save up more money next time..

  • HanabiSG : It is COMBINE of all your US stocks/ETFs/bonds whatever, as they are grouped under the US basket once it reaches the IRS. Well it really depends on what is your intent for this 60K, is it for future use such as your housing, wedding, or for capital growth. This is one key thing I think alot of Singaporeans also lack when they come onboard MooMoo platform, after they have read about investing guides saying just invest on S&P monthly but they are mostly for US citizens. For Singaporeans we need to take into account what IRAS will do when we want to redeem them back, when you are in fact shifting US money back to SG (It affects the US market, where got so good let you invest on them then happily let you transfer back to SG somemore with good Forex). This is the part alot of articles don't share what happens.

CSPX is only in IBKR, because it uses the LSE and Irish-treaty of 15%. You are still young, you can still focus on here first. When you have your job already or feel you're stable enough then slowly shift to IBKR by then you won't be buying on fractional shares also. Look at Adam Khoo, freaking close to 6M in IBKR! LOL If he in MooMoo, he also cry if got those taxes.

  • bad at investing OP bad at investing OP : I think now I just invest what I had now..
visa, SCHD, schg and VOO in this moomoo.. haven even earn profit yet ... after hit the goal than I transfer VOO to cspx? or do both at same time in future when I really have a full time in future after graduate [undefined]

  • bad at investing OP HanabiSG : only just 1 ETF only? still got anymore like dividend ETF for non USA?

  • HanabiSG : Walao eh, you click every symbol, you see what is the flag on top. That is the market you're in. So for example, I'm also in AAXJ, even though they are Asia market but the funds are in US NASDAQ. Understand liao anot. You go the Markets tab, then ETFs there are so many kinds. Even QQQ also ETFs ah. Just keep investing slowly, I suggest make it full unit so is easier to count lah. You haven't NS right? And if no girlfriend even better, just throw all into investment use your current funds you have in bank to survive can one. Now NS pay can buy one unit liao mah. Whether you want to keep both VOO and CSPX that one up to you, if you prefer to organise them under one app then sell lo. It really doesn't matter, or check for window if IBKR that allows you to switch over for free so you no need to rebuy them later once you sell from MooMoo.
