Morning Movers
Gapping up
$Target(TGT.US)$ stock soared over 13% after the big-box retailer easily beat quarterly earnings estimates, as purchases in high-frequency categories helped prop up weaker customer spending.
Adjusted earnings per share of $2.10 in the three months ended on Oct. 28, above forecasts of $1.47, which the Minneapolis-based firm said reflected "disciplined inventory and expense management." Inventory at the end of the quarter was 14% lower than last year, while freight and supply chain costs dropped.
$JD.com(JD.US)$ stock rose 4.9% after the Chinese e-commerce giant posted a surge in quarterly profit as supply chain challenges eased. However, the quarterly revenue of RMB247.7 billion ($34.2 billion) was slightly below the consensus estimate of RMB247.58 billion.
$VF Corp(VFC.US)$ stock rose 3.7% after JPMorgan upgraded its stance on the apparel company to ‘neutral’ from ‘underweight’, citing an expected turnaround in profitability within the next 12 to 18 months.
$Wix.com(WIX.US)$ stock rose 2.7% after Barclays upgraded the web developer to ‘overweight’ from ‘equal weight’, saying its partner program is scaling effectively in a market with few strong competitors.
