Gapping up
$Lowe's Companies(LOW.US)$ reported first-quarter net sales that topped analysts' estimates, as the DIY-retailer was boosted by growth in its online offerings and services for professionals.Diluted earnings per share dropped to $3.06 from $3.77 a year ago. Operating margin dipped to 12.4%, slightly above Wall Street estimates of 12.3%.
Shares in Lowe's rose by 4.7% in premarket U.S. trading on Tuesday.Chinese electric vehicle company
$XPeng(XPEV.US)$ reported a beat on both earnings and revenue for the first quarter of 2024, sending its shares up 5.7% in early Tuesday trading.The company's first-quarter earnings per share (EPS) came in at -RMB0.75, surpassing the analysts' estimate of -RMB2.06. Revenue also exceeded expectations, reaching RMB6.55 billion against a consensus estimate of RMB6.19 billion.
$Macy's(M.US)$ outperformed Wall Street's expectations with earnings of $62 million, or an adjusted 27 cents per share, surpassing the anticipated 16 cents. Revenue also slightly exceeded forecasts, falling 2.7% to $4.85 billion against the projected $4.82 billion. In response to the better-than-expected results and an improved sales and profit forecast, Macy's shares rose over 3% in pre-market trading.
Gapping down
$Zoom Video Communications(ZM.US)$ shares moved lower in premarket U.S. trading on Tuesday after the video conferencing giant unveiled a broadly cautious outlook for its current quarter and fiscal year.Adjusted EPS of $1.35 in the three months ended on April 30 topped analysts' consensus projections of $1.19. Looking ahead, Zoom anticipates that adjusted EPS in its second quarter will be between $1.20 and $1.21, slightly below the Wall Street's consensus predictions of $1.23.
$BHP Group Ltd(BHP.US)$ Shares in BHP Group reached a three-month high in Australian trading on Tuesday as the deadline approached for the world's largest miner to sumbit a new formal bid for rival Anglo American. Analysts cited by Reuters said that BHP shares have been boosted in part by growing predictions that the company will not make another offer for Anglo. Surging copper prices and fresh stimulus for China's ailing property sector were also seen as a catalysts for the stock.
